Hello, I'm Jordan and im interested in exploring opportunities in contouring, embroidery production and costume design. I specialise in CAD design, contouring, tailoring, pattern cutting, and latex construction.
My design philosophy has a dark aesthetic. I want to make the wearer feel powerful and in one with their skin. Every person should feel comfortable in who they are, they should feel free to express that in what they wear. My aesthetic is dark and fantasy-like, each design has its own story. I find it important to look into society and find things that people miss. I think my own work is a form of escapism, for myself and the wearer. When someone looks at my work, I want them to feel something and to get them thinking. I think the reaction is important as then it starts a conversation.
ONEIRATAXIA- the inability to distinguish between fantasy and reality. My graduate collection ONEIRATAXIA looks into a dark realm and depicts the light from the darkness. We all use fantasy to escape our life’s, ONEIRATAXIA is the bridge between fantasy and reality. My inspiration was ‘getting lost in the Circus’ and witchcraft (wicca) and. The idea of the circus when you are a child is the impossible is possible, with all the different acts and the ‘museum of freaks’,
as one gets older the circus starts to take on a more cynical aesthetic. Some of people’s worst nightmares are of those at the circus. I also looked into witchcraft and the more modern-day form of witchcraft formally known as wicca. When I started to look into the craft it took on a darker theme and the stereotypical Hollywood witch but as I started to look deeper into the craft and meeting some amazing 21st Century witches I learnt the true balance of light and dark.
